On Saturday, the Villanova Wildcats and Kansas Jayhawks meet in the NCAA Final Four at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Villanova is 30-7 this season. The Wildcats beat Houston in their last tournament meeting. Kansas is 32-6 and just beat Miami in the Elite Eight. We offer free college basketball picks all season long.
Villanova has only lost two games in a row once this season, in mid-December. The Wildcats beat St. John’s, UConn, and Creighton to win the conference. Since then, they’ve beaten Delaware, Ohio State, Michigan, and Houston.
The Wildcats led Houston 27-20 at halftime on Saturday. Villanova won 50-44 despite being outscored by one point in the second half.
Against Baylor and TCU in early March, Kansas has only lost two games in a row. These teams have won nine games in a row: TCU (again), Texas, TCU (again), Texas Southern, Creighton, Providence, and Miami.
Kansas was down 29-35 at halftime of Sunday’s Elite Eight game against Miami. The Jayhawks scored 47 points after the break to win 76-50. The Wildcats have scored 73 or more points in nine of their last ten games going into the conference tournament. Since then, Villanova has only scored over 66 points twice and held opponents to 65 or less in all seven games. Villanova should be ready to compete in any Final Four game.
Kansas, on the other hand, will be a tough opponent. The Jayhawks have had a few close calls (especially against Texas and Providence), but not many. I expect a big total with Villanova on the cover.
